Hello Everyone !

The dinner venue at "Don's" has been sold and the new owners are just going to level the place the same as they did last month to "Mimi's' Down the street. We are franticly trying to find a new dinner venue before "Don's" has there last dinner on Saturday the 13th. of March before the new owners knock the place down for condominiums in the following week.

If we are unable to find something new before, the 13th. of March will be the end of the socials! All we can do is hope something new opens up and if not there are just no other options. It will be a sad thing for us not meeting people for the evening anymore however we will still meet up with friends who want to come down on their own and spend an evening at the "Sunshine Bar"

Since June 2006, Richard a Canadian and his Japanese wife Megumi, have been organizing and hosting this popular Night Social .

The "Saturday Night Social" evening begins with the "All-you-can-eat Dinner with Western style BBQ" at "Don's" in a small rural community called Nai Harn in the South of Phuket about 100 meters down the road and across the street from the previous "Rawai Mini Golf" venue from the old Friday Night Socials. This all you can eat dinner with western style BBQ is only 199 Baht per person (Please note there may be price change for the high season.) with the food laid out in a buffet style similar to what you find at hotels.

Though each week what they serve will be different, but juicy& tender BBQ Rib, home cooked roasted beef, Lamb & home made mini hamburger are common to be served. If you like little bit of Mexican flavor, there is also a make-your-own-taco-bar. Addition to great food selections, there is fresh cut fruits and freshly baked pie or cake and ice cream as your dessert.

The buffet Dinner begins at 6:00 PM, but hotel transfers begin around 5:00 PM depending on where you will be staying. At 7:30 PM the drivers return to the restaurant and transport everyone farther South of the Island down to the "Sunshine Bar" on Rawai Beach.

This bar is unlike most others in Phuket because there are no professional working girls / boys on site to harass the customers and their families. Behind the large horseshoe bar there are musical instruments such as bongo drums, tambourines, castanets and Thai bells that the energetic local Thai staff play while they sing and perform traditional Thai dances. Later in the evening the music changes and the guests join the staff behind the bar singing, dancing, and challenging the "Dreaded Pole".

If your up for a great night out you should book yourself in to a Friday Night all-you-can-eat BBQ.  They really are a lot of fun.  Costs for the evening are approximately 175 baht for the meal and 175 baht for transport.  Drinks are at your own expense but prices are very reasonable.

The hosts of the event are Richard and Megumi of Phuket Pro Dive and do a great job of facilitating a wonderful evening, from hotel pick-up, meals, transport to the Sunshine Bar and transport back to your hotel at the conclusion of the evening.  As the evenings are very popular it is extremely important that you book well ahead of time.
