Bangkok
Damnoen
Saduak Floating Market:
The Damnoen Saduak
Floating Market is about 100 kms from Bangkok. Excellent day trips
from Bangkok take in the markets on their way to Kanchanaburi & the River Kwaii.
Watpha
Tiger Temple:
Located a short distance from Kanchanaburi. There is a lot of
controversary over this establishment,
however we thoroughly enjoyed our visit so I suggest you go and make your own
mind up.
Grand
Palace: Bangkok's most famous landmark is open daily with
entrance costing approx 200 baht. Don't listen to touts who ply the area
in front of the complex telling tourists that the Palace is closed in the hope
of selling a different tour package.
Australian
War Museum: One of the best museums that I have visited. Take
the train from Kanchanaburi along the banks of the River Kwaii to Nam Tok.
From there it is a short songthew ride to the museum and Hellfire Pass.
Admission by donation.
Chiang Mai
Doi
Suthep: A very pleasant motorbike
ride of if your not game a songthew will take you there for about 150baht.
Open daily from 6:00am to 8:00 pm with admission costing 50 baht which includes
a rail trip to the top and return.
Mae
Sa Elephant Farm: For
a great view of the island climb up to the viewpoint. It's an easy but
long climb so bring along some water. It is certainly worth the effort.
Sunset and sunrise can be viewed from this same location.
Night
Bazaar: Chiang Mai's famous night bazaar is open nightly from 6:00pm
until 10:30pm. The bazaar consists of countless stalls packed along the
sidewalks and spilling out into the street. Here you can find vendors selling
almost anything.
